 Studio Policies

24 hour cancelation policy: To avoid being charged for the full amount of the lesson, please give me at least 24 hours notice when canceling your lesson.  Of course even more than 24 hours notice is appreciated, but I understand life happens!

Exceptions to the cancelation policy:

  • Getting Sick:  Sometimes people wake up sick or come home from school sick.  Please rest and feel better and get healthy, it is ok to cancel in less than 24 hours on these occasions if it is a legitimate sickness.

  • Legitimate Emergency: Again, life happens and sometimes major things come up that we can not avoid.  Of course I am flexible with these situations and allow for cancelations due to legitimate emergencies.

Reasons I will charge you for your missed or last minute canceled lessons: You forgot, you want to go to Disney World instead, you don’t feel like coming, you want to go swimming instead, you didn’t practice and don’t want to show up unprepared, etc.  You get the point ; )

Make Up Lessons: I am more than happy to and absolutely encourage make up lessons when you need to miss your scheduled lesson.   I understand unexpected things come up, so you can ask me to move your lesson, however I will be able to better accomodate a schedule change with at least 24 hours notice.

Saturdays: I try to reserve Saturdays for make up lessons only.  I aim to only teach two Saturdays a month and will schedule make up classes on those two Saturdays.

Practice:  Every student is different as is their music goals.  However, no matter what your music goals are, regular practice is key! You can take your lessons without practicing much in between the lessons, I always have a good time working on music either way.  However, you will DEFINITELY get so much more for your money if you actually take the time to work on your music in between the lessons.  Parents ask me all the time, “How long will it take for my son/daughter to be able to play Fur Elise?”,  or some other popular or recognizable song.  Although individuals do have different natural ability/talent levels, real achievement is attained from working for it. So the more someone practices the faster they will reach those goals!

Running a Business: I enjoy teaching music thoroughly and LOVE that I get the opportunity to share music with so many people.  However it is most beneficial for the student to have regular lessons and I ultimately am running a business.  That being said, consistency is really important to me.  So, if you start canceling every other week without attempting to make up the class, I reserve the right to not teach you and seek out students who are more committed and dedicated to learning music and progressing on a regular basis.

Flexibility: With all of that said, I am a very flexible person. A teacher/student/parent relationship works best with very good communication.  I am easily accessible through text/call and I am happy to work with you on your schedule needs.
